Like on most Caribbean islands the Dutch Caribbean economy relies on international nature related tourism. Examples are diving and snorkling, hiking in the forests, wind-surfing, or kayaking the mangroves. To guarantee sustainable use of nature it is crucial to monitor and understand the pressures: climate change with changes in storms and drought frequency, sea level rise and water termperature change and; direct human induced pressures like overexploitation, over-fishing and coastal development.
