Monkey business 'the socioeconomic impact of the invasive green vervet monkey population on the island of St.Maarten'

Abstract

In this student thesis you will find information on the socioeconomic impact of the invasive Green Vervet monkey population on the island of St. Maarten. The purpose of this research is to propose a most preferred method of control, which incorporates the different opinions from the affected locals, the government and animal rights activists and organizations.

After doing literature research, questionnaires and interviews were held to gain more in-depth, qualitative and quantitative knowledge on the subject. The end product contains several hypothetical methods that could help to control the monkey population. These methods may be presented to the St. Maarten government who can decide on its approval or condemnation.
